why an Outlook rule for a specific word in the subject, does not always work

Hello, I want to forward incoming messages with this subject line:

SSI/ALERT: SHIFT AVAILABLE

So I create a rule to apply to messages in Inbox, after the message
arrives, with "AVAILABLE" in the subject, forward to another e-mail
address. Pretty simple.

The problem is, of course, DOES NOT WORK!!? That is, it works for 1
or 2 messages after I turn the rule on, and then stops working. If I
change the phrase I am looking for, say use "SHIFT AVAILABLE", again
it works only sometimes, usually works at first, then stops. Why oh
why ? I must be doing it right since it works for some of those
messages some of the time, but they all have the same subject line,
and it works for some of them only.

WTF??

Try adding the "And stop processing more rules" directive to the rule.
Without this directive, all the rules you have will be run against a given
message which could be causing the problem.

Thank you, unfortunately your suggestion does not work. In any case,
I test this by "run it now", I run only that rule on all the messages
that were not forwarded to see if they get forwarded, so no other
rules are involved in testing.

I bet there is a 5% chance of this but I'll try -- if your mail server
is running sendmail you could write a procmail rule (basically it's the
same idea, but just rules running on the server) to forward it.

Or, a silly suggestion - copy all of those mails to a linux mail server
and do the procmail there.

are you looking for messages you forwarded or that were forwarded to you (so
your rule is looking for FW in the subject)?

Please keep in mind that many of the people visiting here are not the admins
of their mail servers and don't have Linux servers available to copy their
mail to. They are simple users and just want to do something within outlook
or using tools available for outlook users.
