Why am I receiving each email twice?

Just in the past week I have been receiving all my emails twice. Even the
junk mail is coming in two's. The only setting I can remember changing was a
setting to leave my messages on the server for a day.
I would like to stop receiving my messages twice. Any answers?

1. Stop leaving messages on the server.
2. Turn of AV scanning of incoming/outgoing mail.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
