Why am I getting the message that my Word Docs are unavailable?

I just upgraded one of my computers to Microsoft Office 2003 from 2000 and
now I can't load either Word or Excel documents. Excel docs say that the
virus program has reported problem and with the Word docs I get a message
that says the docs are unavailable? I checked and the programs say they
are activated,

If you're using Symantec/Norton AntiVirus, try disabling the Office
Plugin that comes with it (but don't disable Norton AutoProtect). See
