word 2000 disapeared

I had a virus on my computer this week. The virus appears to have been
deleted by my anti-virus software, however now I cannot find Word 2000
anywhere. I've looked in the "all programs" and it is missing. I've also
tried opening some word docs from my documents, however they will not open.
Could the virus have deleted my Word program? Nothing else appears to be
missing.

It is possible that the Word.exe file had been infected and was therefore deleted by your AV software. But the AV software should
have told you so.

You should be able to repair your Office installation via Add/Remove programs in the Windows Control Panel.
