Why am I being asked to insert a disk when I already have one ?

I already have a clean 31/2 floppy disk in place and I still get the
message:- "The selected disk is not in use. Check to make sure a disk is
inserted." Why so ?

As saving to floppy is fraught with danger and the biggest cause of data
loss when using Word, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it has been
disabled. I can't check as the PC I am using does not have a floppy drive.

Never ever read from, write to, or print from floppy with Word.
ALWAYS work from the hard drive and COPY to and from removeable media.
