Why a mapped drive doesn't reconnect at logon in XP?

Why a mapped drive doesn't reconnect at logon in XP? It doesn't make any
sense put and option when you map a drive if it is not going to work. It
works in 2000 but now in XP SP2 doesn't.

Try this ....

1. Open DOS prompt
2. Type: NET USE <drive letter> \\<machine name>\<share name> /PERSISTENT
YES
