White text on black background

Is it possible to select a line or paragraph in a word document and then change it to white text on a black background
I don't want to use the textbox function because it is rather unflexible.

Thanks, Jane

Hi Jane

Yes. With the text selected, go to Format > Borders and Shading > Shading.
Select black as the shading color, and make sure the "Apply to" box says
either "Text" (to apply it only to the selected part of a paragraph) or
"Paragraph" (to apply it to the whole paragraph). If the text color is set
to Auto, it will appear white against the background.

Select the text you want to change. Go to Format - Borders & Shading - Shading Tab - and pick the color (black) you want. Then re-select the same text and change the font color to white.

If the text color is set to Auto, it will be white automatically.
