White lines on HP Laserjet III

B

Bill

I have a LaserJet III printer that is giving me white vertical lines from
top to bottom about and 1 1/2 inches in on both sides of the paper.
I can't seem to find the cause. I'm thinking it's the rollers picking up
the toner, but can't find the extra toner on the rollers.
Could it be something else? Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks for the help.

Take out the felt wand out of the top of the fuser and take a look.
If it is solid black in the area of the area in question, then the
fuser is suspect.

More than likely it's the toner cartridge or even possibly something
is blocking the laser from hitting the drum properly and it's not
rendering the image on the drum correctly. Take out the toner
cartridge and shake it gently from side to side and try a test page.
Open the flaps on the toner cartridge and inspect the drum area. Check
the flap that hides the mirror while the cover is open.

Also, check the corona wire down at the bottom, right below where the
toner cartridge would sit when the lid is closed. Clean it with a
Q-Tip and some liquid of your choice. Spit works fine.

Hi Bill
This probably will not be toner being picked up by rollers, these are the most
likely causes.
1. Toner cartridge
2. Fuser cleaning pad is dirty (the pad that is replaced when you install a new
cartridge)
3. Dirty Corona wire, underneath the toner cartrdige, carefully clean with the
brush that is inside the printer.
4. Beam mirror is dirty, clean carefully with damp cloth. Get at the mirror by
opening the top cover, slide the shutter that is part of the cover to the right
and swing it up, the mirror is there.
Failing this you could have a scanner failure.
