white bar on bootup

Hi All,

I recently bought a new HD and installed XP Pro. After the
initial POST screen, I'm getting this annoying black
screen with this broken white bar across the bottom. It
turns solid from left to right (like a progress bar) for
about 30 seconds and then I get the XP splash screen and
it boots normally.

Every thing runs fine, except for this annoying extra
screen on bootup.

Any thoughts?

Specs:
Phoenix AwardBIOS v6.00
ABIT KX7-33R mobo
AMD Athlon 1.6 GHz chip

Thanks!

That is perfectly normal. It shows the boot progress as
the broken line is gobbled up by the solid line.

This is definately not normal. I've had the computer for a
little over a year. This just started when I bought this
new hard drive.

this may be due to you having your system set to stand by or hibernate in
the power options of your control panel.

Interesting Steve - Why would that affect the reboot
before it even loads the OS? I definitely have everything
set to "Never" and the scheme is set to "Always On", but I
haven't been in the hibernation tab yet - isn't the
default setting disabled?

Steve , I've never heard of that ever affecting the windows loa
progress meter ...

the broken white line that progressively fills in is a windows loadin
progress meter and it is completly normal !

Yes it is annoying to see and wait till it progresses but it'
something you'll have to live with
