White Progress Bar At Startup

I have got XP Pro installed on my machine however
whenever I start my computer just before the Windows XP
Startup Screen(the black one with the blue progress bar)
there is another white progressbar. I have not seen this
progressbar on any of my other machines having Windows XP
Pro. Is it because I've installed it on my old 4GB HDD
ecause I've already reinstalled XP Pro around 5 times on
this comp just so I could get the partitions etc right.
When I had installed on my new 40GB HDD there was no such
progressbar. Can I disable it somehow. Has anyone else
experienced the same problem.

This white bar generally appears right before it reads, loading Windows
setup or something similar. It shouldn't be there each boot. How many
times have you reboot since noticing?

I rebooted several times but yet it doesn't go it always
comes for around 1-2 secs and then the normal screen
comes. I also removed the XP CD from my CD ROM Drive yet
it stays.

It depends on how fast the system is, Kel. I've seen it every time on a
system that was only just over the minimum spec (P3 450, 128MB, 20GB, 8MB
graphics), but not at all on this one (P4 3.2GHz, 1GB, 400GB, 128MB
graphics).

Check the device manager for any opened categories.

yes thats what i have observed too... that bar comes up in slower systems... its similiar to the one that comes up when Windows resumes after hibernation...
and its not just with XP, i've seen it on some systems running 2000 too..

It sometimes shows up - it defines the time window in which you can
usefully hit F8 (or other relevant Function key for a boot option)

Right and generally it is F6 but during an install (repair, etc). This
shouldn't be a normal everyday occurrence.

It sometimes does, sometimes not, in ordinary booting. Why it should
change over (it started to appear spontaneously on this machine a while
back) I have no idea
