While numbering, the numbers do not line up

When i use the numbering, the 1 will show up and when i type and press enter
the 2 is about 5 spaces the left of the first number. It work fine til
yesterday now i cant figure out how to correct this.

I think you're going to have to give us more detail on what you're doing.
Are you using auto numbering? How is it applied? Using the Numbering button
on the Formatting toolbar? A selection from the Numbering dialog? A numbered
style?

I suspect what you're running into is issues with AutoFormat As You Type
settings. Disable both Automatic Numbered Lists and "Format beginning of
list item like the one before it" and apply your numbering manually or with
a style.
