You may start by telling us exactly what version of OS you have:

Type: Depress the "Windows Key" then "R" the enter "winver".

If you are running come kind of XP, let's see what you have right now.

Click Start, Run and in the box enter:

msinfo32

Click OK, and when the System Summary info appears, click Edit, Select
All, Copy and then paste
back here.

There would be some personal information (like System Name and User
Name) or whatever appears to
be only your business that you can delete from the paste.

Right-click on My Computer | select Properties: Your current WinXP version
will be displayed on the resulting General tan. With that information in
hand, see...

NB: Computers running WinXP SP2 will NOT be offered any further critical

SP3 is installed.

Tell us what you have.

Operating system (edition and service pack level, more detail better.)
Start button --> RUN (no "RUN"? Press the "Windows Key" + R
on your keyboard) --> type in:
winver
--> Click OK.

The picture at the top of the window that opens will give you the general
(Operating System name) while the line starting with the word "version" will
give you the rest of the story. Post both in response to this message
verbatim. ;-)
