I've never considered it necessary to "clean" the registry, not with a
third-party application anyway. Just not enough benefit to be gained from
letting something tinker around in there for my taste, and there is always
the risk of seriously borking things up. .

The good ones don't bork anything up and clean out hundreds of
leftover entries from deleted software that leaves their shit forever
behind. Now Nortons own reg cleaner can bork things up because it is
crap.
