Which PSU for an AthlonXP 2600+ 333FSB?

I've got a Gigabyte GA-7VA motherboard and an AthlonXP 2600+ 333FSB
processor which won't boot at all. All the parts are new and the
motherboard works fine with an AthlonXP 1900+ so unless the processor is
busted that only leaves the power supply. The one I'm using is only 300W
and I'm wondering if that is enough. It's rating is this
+3.3V 20A
+5V 26A
+12V 13A
-12V 0.8A
-5V 0.5A
+5Vsb 2A

+3.3V & 5V combined load 175W
+3.3V & 5V & 15V combined load 180W

It's made by Jeantech model no. ATX-1125BTA

AMD's site claim that anything faster than 1700+ needs 300W or larger PSU
but nothing more specific.

Whoa. For that proc., you need at least 20A on the +12V line. I'd probably
look for 25A or better. In fact, I'm surprised it ran with the 1900+. I
can't say your processor is good or not, but your power supply is way too
weak. -Dave

BigME:

I'm running the Ga-7VT600-L and Barton2600+ off an Antec 400W Ps. Generic
mx440 vidcard & std RAM/fd/HD/CD. No power_related problems evident.

I have half a dozen boxes with 2500+ @ 3200+ using 200W emachine
generic PSU. These boxen run 24/7 at 100% CPU usage. A digital meter
that measures power use in real time shows a max power use of 104
watts.

Zero amps is needed from the +12V line for that particular
motherboard, which uses the +5V line for the CPU core. But the power
supply is probably the culprit here, most likely because of inadequate
+3.3V & +5V combined power capacity.

Thanks for your help, looks like I might need to invest in two new power
supplies! Don't know why AMD can't give a rough figure for power
consumption though, it would have been easy to find the fault then.
