Which phone field to use?

I use Oulook 2003 and most of my 4000 contacts have a company reception
phone number and a direct number to their extension. Now for some contacts
I always dial direct and for others I use the reception number. The direct
dial could be allocated the Business Phone or the Business Phone 2 but which
one is the most common?

This becomes important when mapping numbers to mobile phones as sometimes
certain fields are not available.

I have gone astray over the years in that sometimes when I only have a
direct number I have been entering it into the Business Phone field and then
might add the reception number to the Business Phone 2 field. I would have
preferred if Outlook had allowed me to rename the Business Phone 2 field to
Direct Phone and then I would make fewer errors when exporting.

It would be impossible to determine the most common without surveying the
entire installed Outlook base, which in itself would be impossible. I think
that whatever convention you prefer is the correct one.
