Hello everyone ... I'm curious to know which order should
be my first bootable device ? Floppy , cd-rom - hard
drive ... I have just finish reformating and windows is
up and running fine at the moment , just curious where i
should leave the boot order to be ... At the moment its
set at cd-rom , again because i just finish reformating
with my xp disc , should i leave the set up in that
order ? TIA

Carrie;
Personal preference.
I have floppy and CD-ROM before hard drive so I can always boot to any
of the three without changing any settings.
There is no performance gain or loss with other order.

Actually Jupiter, it is a small performance gain during boot - if after
installing Windows and you are all setup, changing to the harddrive first
prevents windows from checking both the Floppy Drive and CD-ROM for a
bootable disk before it drops down to the hard drive. If for any reason you
need to boot from floppy or CD, it is only a few second change in the BIOS,
and if the hard drive is significantly hosed up, the BIOS will bypass it
anyway as it is no longer bootable and boot from floppy or CD (provided a
bootable disk is inserted).

Small Note: If you want to learn how to fix/do something, I'll point you to
it, but if you want me to do your work for you, it will cost you $50 USD per
hour - your choice.

I do not consider the short delay during boot since that has no effect
during operation.
To me, the added second or two during boot is not relevant but when I
want to boot to CD or floppy, I want to do it now, not after
reconfiguring the BIOS.
Of course then the BIOS needs to be reconfigured again when dome if
the boot time is the priority.
Thus it actually needs to be done twice where I don't do it at all.
