Which is the best OS 2000,XP for a 700MHz PIII, 640MB RAM Laptop

Hi I have inherited a IBM X22 laptop, which has a 700MHz PIII processor &
640MB RAM (maxed out) & 30GB HDD

What is the fastest OS to use with this config? Is Win2000 the same as XP
regarding resource use?

I don't really want to go back to Win98.

I have used WinXP and Win2000

Your computer may run faster on Win2000 than WinXP so maybe you should try
Win2000
