Which graphic card

We have 300 computers and soon we will change part of them, but we have
problem to choose graphic card for the new ones.
What we can gain buing more advanced card? We had AGP Matrox milennium
with 32MB RAM. I tested some new ATI and NVidia card with 512 MB RAM,
both with DDR, DDR2 and DDR3 and I do not see the difference besides
that the last ones get more hot and need better cooling. What is all
about this stupid mess with graphic cards? Who need faster one than
those with AGP contact.

I tested also some cards at my home computer with PCIexpressx16 and I
really do not see any difference in speed compared to the AGP cards.

At work people are using Windows XP, Microsoft Office, ArcGis and
Internet Explorer.

Surfing the web or editing misc on the desktop or the OS,you wont see
much diffrence.On-Line gaming,you will,as would you in video viewing/editing,
etc....

You may want to ask ArcGis what they recommend as minimum video adapter
for their software, these types of programs usually see increased
performance with better video cards. PCIe is the new standard, if you
buy new computers they will probably come with the newer PCIe, you will
have to do some digging around to get new computers with AGP slots and
you would limit your hardware choices. AGP is going the way of ISA
slots and dodo birds.
