which free anti virus would be best for my pc?

which free anti virus would best suit my pc, i have an intel celeron, 2,40GHz, 512Ram.

At the moment i'm using Avast but my pc is a bit sluggish although i dont know if it's anything to do with Avast.

dont know if i should stick with Avast or try AVG or Anti vir.

any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Anti vir. is the better although Avast should not slow you PC down
if you use Zone alarm there is a know conflict within? try reinstalling Avast and make sure you set it to run with Zone alarm`s security setting.
also try ccleaner to get rid off all the crap uncheck the box for Yahoo tool bar when installing

dont use zone alarm but do use ccleaner, think i will try anti vir.
