I am trying to find a list of which fonts Vista uses --

My fonts list is unweildy in applications, and I'd like to remove those
Vista and I don't use.

This removal is not for memory reasons.

Thanks.

I came across a very useful URL while trying to figure out which fonts
exactly are native Vista fonts that you should be careful about deleting...
See if it helps you as well!

First copying anything you delete to a CD can't hurt, and gives you the
opportunity to get it back should you later change your mind.

Thanks. I agree that's it wise to make a copy before deleting.

One last question -- the name of some fonts start with an "@" in some
programs. Know what that means?

Rather then deleting, trying moving instead! I suggest you click on
the Start button, type in the word font, and in a few seconds your
font folder should show up. Click on it. Now you can see each font's
particulars. Click on each icon and you'll see a sample in that font
face.

While outdated and it doesn't include Vista information it does list
which fonts are installed by older versions of Windows.

AFAIK Vista adds these:

Calibri, Cambria, Candara, Consolas, Constantia & Corbel

Many applications add their own fonts some may even get installed in
other folder and you can downloads tons of others.

One way to cleanup fonts you never use in move ones you think you'll
never have any use for to a new folder named fonts-old or something
like that. Then over the course of time as you use your computer and
something no longer appears right you can also move the fonts back to
the primary folder.
