You want WindowsDefender.msi (6.4 MB) since you have Windows XP Home.
The other is 64 bit and not available for Home..

Install the first one (WindowsDefender.msi (6.4 MB)) when you begin to
install it, it will uninstall beta 1 automatically.

You are replying to a very old thread--about a different version of the
program, and when the download page was designed differently.

You want windowsdefender.msi, and it should be somewhat shorter than the
stats in this message--5.49MB??

When you say "it does not work"--what error message do you get?

I don't get an error message. A MSDOS window pops up then it dissappears.
Thats it. Nothing else happens. Sometimes a command line pops up but the
window dissappears too fast to read it.

If you go to Windows Update, using Internet Explorer, and do an express
scan--do you get any updates offered? Try installing all of them, and then
re-trying this download.

I keep my computer up to date with windows update updates and have all of the
current ones and it still doesn't work.

I was downloading a file one day when Microsoft Anti Spyware (beta 1) told me
there was a newer verson to download. So it downloaded and installed defender
for me. So that solved my problem.
