Where to get thermal tape?

I recently got an X1950XT and attached a Zalman cooler. It cames with
separate ram heatsinks but they are not securely attached to the ram
modules. I searched the Web and local stores but couldn't find a store to
buy thin thermal tape from. Where can I buy it?

Buy some new sinks, and clean the surfaces you are going to stick them to.
Keep finger oils off the tape.

And if you don't care about the video card warranty, there is thermal
epoxy. Note that it cannot be removed, and people who have tried, have
ripped the top right off the chip. It is a *permanent* solution.

Thermal tape typically comes in rolls. And if you find it for separate
purchase, it might not be exactly the right formulation for your
application. Tapes come in all thicknesses, and material compositions.
You might get lucky, and find someone who sells just the right stuff,
and cuts small hunks off a roll. We had one roll at work, and the
stuff was like gold (kept locked up).

Electronics supplies? But I'd rather use ordinary silicone rubber
sealer because I've found that it sticks and conducts heat better.

A local electronics supply store does have thermal tapes. The problem is
they are too thick to be used for a graphic card.

Since it's for the ram chips and not the GPU, I'd go with the epoxy.
I like this alumina stuff better than the silver stuff because it's
not capacitive and a slip up will not cause problems.

Arctic Alumina Thermal Adhesive is not intended to be used between a
CPU and the CPU heatsink. For CPU applications only use Arctic
Silver Thermal Compounds.

Arctic Silver Adhesive is probably the best adhesive out there for
thermal layering and bonding for heatsinks.

A set of Arctic Alumina Thermal Adhesive consists of two tubes
containing a total of 5 grams of adhesive (2.5 grams each of parts
A and B) and a plastic reusable mixing wand. (Approximately 3cc
total adhesive.)

Although lighter per set than Arctic Silver Adhesive due to its use
of ceramics rather than silver, each set of Arctic Alumina Adhesive
contains the same amount of adhesive by volume as a set of Arctic
Silver Adhesive and will cover the same area.

Arctic Alumina Thermal Adhesive is a permanent adhesive. Components
you attach with Arctic Alumina Thermal Adhesive will stay attached
forever.
