Where is the root directory of my xp os

trying to install a driver file for a digital camera,recieved a download from
manufacture,but doesn't have an exe file.i have to manually install this file.
 
Hi dwheeler865,

The root directory is the drive letter of the partition on which the
operating system is installed. For example, if XP is installed on C drive,
then the root directory would be C:\

Just thought I might add that if you are looking to locate the subdirectory
where Windows is installed (usually C:\WINDOWS for XP), go to Start>Run and
key in %WINDIR% then click on OK or hit ENTER. A Windows Explorer window
will open with the path to this subdirectory in the Address field.
