where have all my folder icons gone

I've been doing a lot of messing around with my system since I made it a
leagul copy of xp last week with a lot of headaches, (Way over my skill
levels), My lastest one is my folder Icons are gone Inculding Accessories,
Games, Start-up. Can I get some help for this silly problem. Thanks You

If you explain * how you messed around * , it might be helpfull .

Well in order to become legal, I did an update install, then I did a repair
install, and finally I did a new install. I noticed I have way less disk
space now than I did before.
Every thing seems to work all right It's just that most of the Icons on my
file folders are generic inculding the favorites web sites that I have. I
don't think I deleted any thing. I've read some fixes on the different post
about Icon problems, and followed some pf them, like copying system32.dll
from my setup disk to windows system32 folder, and such with no luck Help. Oh
and I did follow sombodys fix by deleating a file call iconcache.db. that
did'nt do anything either. Larry
