I recently wanted to put mp3 files on a disc. I was asked to format a disc
first, then all files were written as I dragged them on. The result did not
play on my portable cd (with mp3 playback). BEFORE when I put in a new disc
I automatically got the cd wizard which let me drag the files on, and showed
them as files waiting to be written. When I was ready I clicked write files
to cd and they were all written at once, and put in alph order, and the
result always played. I was never asked about dla formatting. the wizrd did
all this. why has wizard dissappeared?
Text answers for idiots preferred, as opposed to answers that just tell me
to go to a website. thanks

Why do you not use the program supplied with your CD writer?

For tseveral reasons.
1) I do not know what it is
2) I was quite happy with the cd writing wizard which I presume was part of
windows xp
3) even if i do it the way i am asked now, the resulting mp3 disc does not
play on my portable cd player (which is mp3 compatible and played the discs
created in the old one.

PLEASE PLEASE ANYONE IN THE WORLD just tell me why the wizrad has
disappeared (yes i know wizards do that sort of thing ha ha) and how can i
conjure him back again? Thanks

Open Windows Explorer and right click on the drive. Select Properties, Recording and make sure that burning is enabled.

You may want to look for a program called Nero or Easy CD.. you should have
a CD containing either one of these.. they are eminently more capable of
creating CDs than XP's facility..
