Where does Windows Mail store its list of newsgroups available on each server?

Where does Windows Mail store its list of newsgroups available on
each server? I've found that my ISP's newsgroups server is supposed
to make alt.binaries.food available, but all my efforts to subscribe to
that newsgroups have failed to turn up any sign that Windows Mail
can find it.

The groups are available from your ISP newserver & only the ones you select
are downloaded

I'm not trying to download all the newsgroups. I'm only trying to
find the list of which newsgroups the server has available.

I did a search of my whole C: partition using the Vista search program,
looking containing the string alt.binaries.food. It found about 70 files,
but I looked at all of these I could get to open and none of them actually
contained that string even though a number of email and news messages
I've read recently referred to either newsgroup alt.binaries.food or
newsgroup alt.binaries.food.sushi and I saw no reason to delete these
messages after I read them.

I looked at the list of newsgroups Windows Mail displayed when I told
it to look for newsgroups containing alt.binaries.food, and the only one
I found was alt.binaries.food.sushi. On my ISP's newsgroup for discussing
newsgroups, I asked if alt.binaries.food is available and was told that it
is. I also got this quote of a previous message:

Using windows Vista Windows mail, after receiving a full listing of
available groups on bellsouth.net and giganews, I cannot subscirbe to
alt.binaries.food. I know the group is there on the servers but it is not
showing up in the list of available groups. Using any other client, I can
find and subscribe to this group.

The following steps are a temporary work-around for this bug, which we
have submitted to Microsoft;

1) Remove newsgroups account from WindowsMail.
2) Remake your newsgroup accouont in Windows Mail.
DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE LIST OF GROUPS!
3) Click on Start, then Run.
4) In the text box, type:
news://addressof.your.newsISP/alt.binaries.food and hit enter.
(This will open up the group in Windows Mail.)
5) Right-click on the groupname in the left panel, then left-click on
Subscibe in the dropdown menu.
6) Repeat steps 3 -5 for any other groups that you have this same
problem with.
7) Now you can download the list from the server and proceed like
normal.

Again, this is a temporary fix until Microsoft fixes the bug.

So it looks like we have another Windows Mail problem to add to the list.

Also, we have either a problem with the Vista search program finding a
string in email and news messages, or a problem in something it shares
with Windows Mail.

Does Windows Mail even store its list of newsgroups available from a
particular server in ASCII form so the search routine should be able to
find it? It apparantly stores it, since it takes longer to download an
entire
copy of the list than to add any newly available newsgroups to the list.
