Where does the automatic update tool store the updates?

Hi,

The automatic update tool downloads from MSFT site.

Where does it keep the updates and does it delete them after the
updates are installed?

I notice that my free space decreases after the updates installation
and i wonder if the installation files are still retained somewhere in
the OS?

They are probably downloaded to the TEMP folder, installed and then deleted.

If you visit the MS Knowledge Base page that covers each update you can
download the update and install it manually.

They are usually in your windows folder. Turn on show hidden files and
folder in folder options and you will see them. I usually delete them after
using the machine for a while and making sure I won't need to uninstall any
of them from add or remove in control panel. Don't touch the one named,
$hf_mig$.

go to control panel>>> click add/remove programs >>> at top of screen is
check box(show updates) click it, then scroll down ...should show all your
updates and makes easy removal if ya have a problem one.
