Where does Business Contact Manager store contacts?

My hard drive crashed and will not boot up, but I can
still retrieve data from it.

I need to know know where Business Contact Manager stores
contacts and what type of files they are.

Then I assume that it's a simple matter to either import
the data or just paste the files into the proper
directory of my new installation of BCM.

Thanks in advance,

peter

the files are stored in C:\Documents and
Settings\Username\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Business Contact Manager this requires
ability to view hidden and system files.
the files are called
MSBusinessContactManager.ldf and .mdl
if you have rebuilt databases at any time there might be
a serial number on the end of the file name.
prepare to copy these to the same directory on the new
system - you may have to change the name becasue you may
not be able to overwrite (depends on Outlook related
applications that may have previously been run or still
running)
Then to control panel and mail datafiles select BCM
settings create new database. (this changes the database
to a new one with a serial number on the end. Reboot.
navigate to folder copy required datafile on top of the
original file on this system (not the one you just
created)
back to control panel and mail datafiles select BCM
settings this time use existing database and select the
original name again displacing the new one you created.
probably needs a reboot again.
Start-up Outlook you might be lucky.
immediately take a back-up of the database from the
outlook - file menu - business database - backup.
beware - exporting and importing as csv files will mean
having to manually stitch your database back together so
avoid this route.

I am sure there is a better way of doing this but I have
used this method several times as I keep losing BCM from
my version of outlook and getting into alsorts of trouble.

Good luck
