Where did Transparency go?

Greetings

I've been using Windows XP Home Edition for several months
now. But just a couple of nights ago I noticed that the
Transparency option is no longer present in the Image
Attributes dialog for Microsoft Paint. At first I thought
perhaps a recent Windows update removed it, but I've
checked other Windows XP machines and all appear to no
longer have the option. I can't believe I am just now
noticing this. Further, I can't believe I can't find a
reference to this feature being missing in action on XP
machines. Am I like the only goober on this planet that
uses Microsoft Paint?

So why did it disappear? Where did it go? Furher, is there
a way to restore the functionality? Perhaps by copying
either the MSPAINT.EXE or some supporting .DLL from
perhaps a Windows 2000 PC? It was extremely handy and made
Microsoft Paint my preferred image editor. Now I'm
thinking I'll have to go purchase something like Paint
Shop Pro. :(

Thanks for any insights! Rick :)

Hi Jake

Draw Opague is a separate option and is still present.
This option only affects manipulating the image in the
Paint window. I'm referring to the option to set a
transparent background that is used when saving the file
in .GIF format. If you examine a Windows 2000 system that
has the correct filter for saving .GIF images, the Image
Attributes dialog has an extra section near the bottom
that is labeled Transparency and allows you to specify the
color used for Transparent (AKA Alpha Channel). I don't
see this option on any XP system I have access to.

Sincerely... Rick :)
