Where did my other 10 GB get to???

I just reinstalled Win XP Home on a Maxstor 40GB IDE hard disk. This disk
was formatted 39GB FAT32 as a secondary disk before the reinstall. I deleted
all partitions and let WinXP Installer format it as NTFS in the setup. Now
it's only 30 GB!!! Where has the other 10GB gone, and how can I get it
back????

Confused, of Brisbane...
