Where di my "Windows XP Style" option go?

When I first installed Windows XP, I had the option, under Display
properties > Appearance tab > Windows and buttons, to pick either "Windows
XP style" or Windows Classic style". On machines where I kept the " XP
style" I still have that option, but on machines where I switched to the
"Classic style" the drop down menu no longer displays the "XP style" option.
Can anyone tell me why the XP style option disappeared and whether there's a
way to re-enable it again?
