I am currently writing a document which includes Engineering / Physics
characters. I have been unable to find the characters I need for writing
formulas.

Is there a character set for Math / Physics / Engineering that can be
downloaded and incorporated into Word/Excel?

Thanx,

The large Unicode fonts -- Arial Unicode, Lucida Sans Unicode, and to a
lesser extent Times New Roman -- have a lot of characters you may not be
familiar with. See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/InsertSpecChars.htm.

You can also try the Equation Editor (Insert > Object > Equation Editor).
