Where are View Setting Saved

S

I ran O2003 using the /cleanviews setting since any changes were not
being saved in views. I'm assuming the file got corrupted. Are the
views saved in the "outcmd.dat" file? I can make a copy of the file so
if the views go bad again, I don't need to recreate them. If views are
not saved in the "outcmd.dat" file, where are the saved?

When Outlook is closed you can safely rename outcmd.dat. A new one will be
created when Outlook is opened again.

Views are stored in the mailbox or pst - either at the root for global views
or in folders for per folder views. The only way to back them up is by
copying the pst.

outcmd.dat isfor command bars, not views.

Kathleen:

Thanks. Does that mean that the views are saved in the outcmd.dat
file?

Diane:

Thanks. I already backup my PST file. However, if the views go bad,
going back to an old PST file won't help as the data is old. No
utility to export / import settings such as views to save off when
they become corrupted? Views don't get corrupted often, but it does
happen and when you have a few dozen views it takes time to remember
and recreate them.
