where are my emails

I recently updated Vista and it installed a new version of windows mail. It
lost my account information and emails. any ideas on how to get them back???

? There is no new version of Windows Mail.
Windows Mail has remained unchanged since Microsoft washed its hands
of it circa July 2006. What is the version or build number of your mail program?
 
That depends on 2 things.
How exactly did you "update" Vista?
Was your email setup using POP or IMAP?
