Where are emails and attachments stored????

Hi All,

this is a follow up from an earlier post that has gone unanswered but
i think is rather important.

When you link an email containing an attachment (manually or via auto
link) where are the emails and attachment stored? are they not COPIED
into the CRM?

I've recently cleaned up my exchange inbox and now when in BCM history
for either contacts or accounts when I open an email, i no longer have
access to the attachemnt in an email. What's the go? are emails in the
history section only linked and not copied from the mailbox?

This is very important as attachments form part of the trail in the
Business Contact process.

Some help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

I don't know which version of BCM you're using, 2003 or 2007, but this is
discussed in Help, so check it out there first, then post again, if it's
still not clear.

Hi Susan,

I'm using BCM 2007.

I searched the help but still could not find information on this
topic.

Could you please provide some links if you have any.
From using the software it seems to me attachments are not stored in
the SQL database. The text part of an email is however.

I think in the next version of BCM, the option to save the email with
attachments should be given to the user.

The emails that you have under the history section or attachments that you
add are only pointers to original item (It would be the PST for emails and
the location of the attachments in the other case). BCM does store some meta
data like subject, data things like that which are still retained if the
original copy of the email is deleted from the PST file.
