where are email messages stored on computer?

I have verizon for one of my email accounts, and I access it through Mozilla.
Once I download the messages, they are no longer stored on Verizon's servers.

My computer got corrupted, and I had to reformat and backup from an external
hard drive. I did not know where these messages were stored, so I did not
specifically backup these messages.

I would like to know if the messages are stored somewhere where I could
access them. Also, where would the address book be stored?

That information was helpful. I wish I had requested it before I
reformatted. I cannot find any of the mail, address book or other things
this article says should be there.

Most of my favorites from Mozilla are in that saved folder on the backup
hard drive. The problem is that it is not an html file/folder. I tried to
open the folder in Word, and I can only open the individual bookmarks. I
would have to save each bookmark as an html file, then import each bookmark
individually. It would be easier to open each bookmark and save it than to
import them.

How do I turn the favorites folder into html so I can import all of the
favorites at the same time?

The email messages for Thunderbird, along with profiles and other information,
are stored in the folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application
Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default

xxxxxxxxx is a combination of lower case letters and numbers.
