When VPN fails...how do I stop Outlook from connecting to Exchg

My ISP is threatening to cut off my service because Outlook is generating
many error messages by repeatedly trying to connect to my company's MS
Exchange server during a VPN tunnel failure. When the VPN tunnel is not
there, the attempts to connect generate URL not found messages and the ISP
considers this a Security issue (probably DoS).

I need to configure Outlook so it doesn't try to connect to MS Exchange when
the VPN tunnel fails. Any ideas.

The alternative is for my wife and I to terminate our Outlook sessios when
away from our desks for extended periods of time. We can try to do
this...but it will not be 100%.

Another solution I am considering is setting hibernation on both our
laptops...

Thanks...Larry

is outlook configured to use any connection or the VPN connection only?
(tools, accounts, account properties, more settings)

is the VPN set to reconnect automatically? (on the vpn properties)

Hi Diane...

Outlook is configured to "Connect using my LAN"

VPN does attempt reconnection...but it never works and times out, and then I
have to manually reconnect it.

Thanks...Larry
