when retreiving mail it makes all look like new

EVERY time Outlook checks the server for new mail, it takes all my "viewed"
mail and makes it look new (makes it bold font again). I can view them again
and it will make them new again the next time it checks for new mail. The
really annoying part is that while in the middle of reading an Email, it
refreshes that particular Email also and goes to the top, so in a lengthy
Email I have to search and find where I left off.

Is your antivirus program scanning incoming mail? Try disabling that, if
so. Some AV programs require uninstalling and reinstalling without the
option to really disable it.
