If the computer turns off is it Overheating? Open the case if desktop and
gently blow it out with the exhaust from a vacuum if dusty. When turned on
check the internal fans with the case open, does the fan on the CPU and all
other fans turn on. With the case open does it still shut down? If it
stays running with the case open to allow cooling, it is almost certainly an
overheating problem.
If the bios has the ability to monitor the temperature of the CPU (check the
manual), close the case and go into the bios and monitor the cpu's
temperature. Is it rising above the setpoint? If so something in the
cooling system of the case is bad.
