Hi, check all your settings for those set out here: (WM is same as OE)
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/pop/pop-08.html

Ensure that your Outbox is empty, delete any messages from it, or move them
to the Drafts Folder.

Send a test message to yourself.

When the log on box appears in WM requesting PW & UN always click cancel,
never OK.
Or WM wipes the settings.

Only ever enter your detail at tools>accounts etc, and as I say always
cancel the request pop up.

Get back with any error message.

In addition to the other response, make sure that "Log on using Secure
Password Authentication" is not enabled. You'll find that setting under
Tools, Accounts, select that mail account, Properties, Servers.
