when new dvd burner installed dvd rom is lost

I just got a dvd burner, when i installed it and turned
my computer on it lost my dvd rom. when ever the dvd
burner is unplugged the dvd rom comes back. Huh??

check the jumper setting and make sur e you not trying to run both as a
master or slave. Also it could be not enough power from the power suply. It
is more likely that the jum pers are incorect though.

Good points, also try giving the old DVD drive a different drive letter
(say Z) then add the new one. Rare but worth a try after you have tried the
ones above.
