When Is Windows XP Professional "Out Of (Mainstream) Support" Please?

Hello,

Please could someone tell me when Windows XP Pro goes out of
(mainstream) support (or at least where I can find out for myself)?

I have viewed the MS web site
(http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?p1=3223) but it tells me
"Mainstream support will end two years after the next version of this
product is released." It doesn't give me a date and frankly, I'm
confused! Is there even a 'next version' of this product and when will
it be released?

Many thanks in advance for your help!

Rafael.

Next Version is Windows Vista, it will be released in 3-10 months.

Doesn't mean you can't still use it. Even when Mainstream support ends, that
doesn't stop XP from working.

Ahhhhhh! It becomes clearer now! I thought that it meant the next
version of Windows XP Professional as opposed to the next version of
Windows full stop!!! I guess that's just me being dim.

So.....if Vista is due for release late '06 / early '07 (which seems to
be the current thinking) then Windows XP Pro goes out of mainstream
support late '08 / early '09.

That sound about right????

And it depends on how stable Vista is. If they constantly are having
problems when released to MainStream, they usually extend the support period
for the previous version.
