When inserting a file why are zip files not listed

If I choose to insert a file into a message, then navigate to any folder
containing .zip files, they are not listed. However Windows explorer does
list them. I have looked everywhere in Outlook for options that might affect
this but can find none.

I am running Outlook 2003 with XP SP2.
 
Probably won't let you send .zip files for security reasons, I know it
blocks them automatically when you receive them. Check under options for
Security settings
 
There is nothing there related to this that I could find. I can certainly
receive zip files and when sending a message I have subsequently discovered I
can drag-and-drop or cutr-and-paste the files into a message.
