When importing sound has static to it.

When I import my videos to Movie Maker, the sound gains a lot of static. The
video is fine and you can still hear the sound but with great amounts of
static.
I have a desktop machine (HP Pavillion) and running Vista. The files from
my camera are .MOV which I have a feeling that's why the sound messes up.

Movie Maker is not compatible with
QuickTime .mov files. I don't know
how you managed to import them.
