when i save doc created wiwth template, the first field keeps dele

i've downloaded a template and completed all of the fields. when i save as
..doc, the text in the first field is deleted and reverts back to "type text
here". why? This is a trial version of word, could that be the cause?

You use a template by saving it in the user templates folder (tools >
options > file locations > user templates) and create new documents from it.
You don't complete the fields in the template!
