When I open my notebook, I get a blank screen

I have an Inspiron 1520 and when I open up my notebook it's on and I wait but
the screen stays blank. I have put it into the sleep mode when I'm done,
same thing, put it in the low power mode, same thing, just shut it, same
thing. It doesn't always happen, but the only way I can get anything to come
up is to turn it off, then on. I don't like doing that. I don't know if
there is some button I'm supposed to hit to get the screen to come up or
what. Like I said, it doesn't always do that. Any help would be appreciated.

This sounds like a hardware issue. Contact Dell tech support for
repair/replacement.
