I had 2 files open in Excel. I remember seing a message while closing the
files and I thought it was 'Do you want to save file' but maybe it was
something else and I answered 'Yes' to it. Now my original file is replaced
by the other. How can that be? How can you send a file to another just by
answering 'Yes'. I know one of my files had some links that I forgot to
remove. I also did a restore file on our server but it made no changes.
Please advise. Very stressed.

Do the two files look like file.xls:1 and file.xls:2 ?

If so, you two windows open with the same file. Someone created a second
window through Window>New Window.

Close one of them using the "x" on that window then save the file again.

Hi,
No the files were not xls:1 and xls.2. I am familiar with new window
option. Actually I just tried to restore thru by bankup system and checked
off 'restore over existing file' instead of 'skip restore if file exists'
which was not checked off earlier this morning. I still don't understand how
a file can replace a completely different file though?? Thanks for the info.
