When I attempt to clear history in IE options tab...

When I go to clear my history in IE 6.0, nothing happens and internet
explorer stops responding. Then I have to go to the task tab, see that the
program is not responding, and then manually stop the program. What could be
wrong?

Hi,
First try clearing the History from Control Panel> Internet Options (with no
IE windows open.)

Next, the history folder may be corrupted. Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder and a new one will be created when you restart.
Or the History folder can be deleted manually:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm
