When downloading if I compose and hit send it freezes outlook. Is.

Older versiona use to put the outgoing email into the outbox and send it
after the download of receive was done. How can I fix this or is this another
outlook thing?

What version of Outlook?
Is it fully patched from Office Update (the link on the Windows Update
page)?
