when does the public beta end?

When does this public beta end? How long can the Vista Beta 2 be used
before it expires please?
I don't want to install it to find it expires in 2 months as that would be a
waste of time. Would be nice to get at least 4 months out of it.

The public beta will end and the capability to use Microsoft Update to
update Beta 2 will end no later than the release of Vista. The software
will work until June 1 of 2007 but the beta will be over before then. Beta
licenses expire upon the release of the product.

Generally that will lead to a premature timebombing. The delta is an
absolute value.

Thanks. You see I know what will happen. My little laptop will become
quite comfortable over a year using Vista and will not want to let it go
when the time comes. Lets hope MS release inexpensive versions like
upgrades and oems like they do with XP.

Did you actually bother to read any of the information YOU WERE GIVEN
when you signed up for it?

I have a long email they sent me but it mentions nothing about when it
expires.

When you signed up, you were sent to this page:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/preview.mspx

If you actually bothered reading it you'll have seen:

"When you register for the Customer Preview Program you will receive
the Beta 2 release plus Windows Vista Release Candidate 1 (RC1) ? the
next major pre-release of Windows Vista ? when it is available later
this year."

as well as:

"Time-limited software
Windows Vista Beta 2 (and RC1) is time-limited, pre-release software
that will expire on June 1, 2007. "

Scan the postings, Conor. Do you think they are reading anything before
jumping in?

What difference does it make? RC1 will be out in a few months and nobody
will remember Beta 2 by Halloween anyway.
